To accomplish this, 10 regions throughout Namibia, each with a strikingly different natural location, have been identified. Each region, which has been chosen for its unique and diverse landscape, will be complimented by a series of seven permanent film sets, supporting film industry infrastructure and a luxury resort for tourists and filmmakers alike. When completed, Namibia will host the largest permanent collection of epic film sets in the world.
In addition to the permanent film sets, Desert Star will develop state-of-the-art production facilities; luxury film cast and film crew accommodation and film infrastructure at each of these locations to make the continuous filming of international blockbuster movies a reality.
Desert Star will develop an exquisite Motion Picture Resort which will host a variety of exciting tourist attractions, the pinnacle of which will be the film set tours at each of the seven filming destinations throughout Namibia.
Employing a phased approach, Desert Star South will be developed first, with the Desert Star Central and West developments following in close succession.
With the construction of the Desert Star South development underway and the Windhoek head office which is already in place at the River Crossing Lodge, the 10 regions earmarked to comprise the complete Desert Star experience include those indicated on our illustrated map.
Desert Stars National Vision is to develop the Namibian film and tourism industries, through creating sustainable and uniquely spectacular motion picture destinations throughout the country that will attract world-class film producers and tourists alike.
